Dawn with Bernice and Lisa

I would like to thank the members of the Slipcover Network for selecting me as the 2012 national recipient of the Slipcover Summit Scholarship.

For the past two years, I had been encouraged to apply for the scholarship by a colleague, friend and fellow member of the CT River East Chapter of the WCAA. I had declined the first year and when prompted to apply this year, I decided that it could be a great opportunity to include slipcovers as a service offering in my business.

I would be remiss if I did not share with you my doubts that I would be chosen. So naturally, when I received a telephone call from Claudia Buchanan informing me that I indeed had been selected as the scholarship recipient, I was thrilled!

It was an incredible experience to be able to spend three days with such remarkable women and talented instructors like Bernice King, Angie Knowles and Karen Erickson. I gained tremendous knowledge and left each day of class, inspired and truly motivated!

As President of the CT River East Chapter of the WCAA, I have willingly shared my experiences in Hickory, NC with other members of the Chapter and have encouraged them to consider attending the Slipcover Summit in the future.

I consider my experience at the Summit a strong foundation. Over the next year, my intention is to build upon that foundation as I acquire even greater knowledge and obtain the experience necessary to ensure a successful slipcover business.

In closing, please accept my sincere gratitude for the outstanding opportunity I was given. I wish you all the very best and continued success in your business.

Dawn Rousseau
President, WCAA CT River East Chapter
